Powder Coating Painter

The focus of the Powder Coating Painter is on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. Precise, consistent work output is essential requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. The job environment is stable, based on known relationships with people and well-defined processes. Job knowledge and competency is built through structured step-by-step training and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers. Communication with others is based on knowledge of repetitive job routines and procedures gained from sufficient on the job experience. Consistent, error free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success. The job environment promotes steady, methodical work output so that job routines can be completed on time and error-free. This position is designed to develop a valued technical expert, who, recognized and supported by management and a stable work environment, can deliver quality work on a consistent basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understands the general operating procedures for a powder coat and paint room and the ability to set up the equipment and systems to obtain the proper paint coverage on parts.
• Experience applying clear powder and liquid coatings to metal parts.
• Set-up, operate, or tend machine to coat or paint. Maintain systems to achieve optimum performance.
• Able to mask/plug, rack and wash metal parts. Able to make adjustments to paint materials and application equipment to obtain optimum coating results. Able to adjust oven temperatures to obtain optimum paint cure.
• Must be able to match or detect difference between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
• Knowledgeable of how to check mill thickness and adhesions.
• Perform necessary testing to assure quality of parts in an environmentally safe state and maintain records.
• Able to read and comprehend work instructions.
• Requires regular, reliable attendance.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
