Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided. Major responsibilities include facilitating student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives, making optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods, supplementing and altering lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials as appropriate, maintaining accurate student records and grades, engaging with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, demonstrating evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging online students, interacting professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers, maintaining a safe, quality online educational environment, and promoting an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees where every individual feels respected and valued. Supervision is received from Department/Program Chair with no supervision given. Political Science Discipline Standard requires a master's or higher degree in political science or public administration or a Juris Doctor degree from a regionally accredited institution. For POLS 101, 210 courses, faculty must meet the political science discipline standard or possess a master's or higher degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in political science, public administration, or history.
