Job Description AECOM seeks an experienced Archaeologist for our Honolulu team. The position can be remote for the right candidate. The Archaeologist will review projects affecting historic properties under Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS) Chapter 6E and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). Responsibilities include identifying historic properties, evaluating significance, assessing effects, developing mitigation plans, and verifying mitigation completion following federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing government memoranda for: Requests for Historic Preservation Review and determination letters Requests for Area of Potential Effect (APE) Concurrence Requests for Information on Historic Properties Effect Determinations under HRS and NHPA Archaeological Testing Strategies, Surveys, Assessments, Monitoring, Data Recovery, and Preservation Plans The role requires preparing official memorandums and conducting archaeological research and database review. Qualifications Minimum: BA/BS in Archaeology, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Hawaiian Studies, or related field + 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent. Preferred: Experience with HRS Chapter 6E, Section 106 NHPA, federal, state, and local agencies, proficiency with ArcGIS, Adobe, Microsoft Office, and strong technical writing skills.
