Overview:

The Architectrual Design Manager serves as the critical link between design intent and construction execution, ensuring that brand standards are upheld across all projects. This role manages the design process from concept through construction and collaborating with internal departments including Real Estate, Construction, Project Managers and external partners such as franchisees, architects, vendors and general contractors.

Purpose/Impact: (Duties & Essential Functions)

• Design Coordination
  1. Act as the central point of contact for all design-related inquiries and coordination
  2. Facilitate collaboration among architects, project managers, franchise partners
  3. Guide franchisees through design development for new builds, remodels, and upgrades
  4. Lead design review meetings to ensure alignment on deliverables
• Design Review + Management:
  1. Guide and direct franchisee through the design development in the creation of a preliminary floor plan layout
  2. Oversee the development and review of technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
  3. Interpret and ensure construction documents meet brand, regulatory, accessibility, and code requirements
  4. Collect and analyze as-builts data and existing site conditions, with working knowledge of MEP systems and permitting processes
• Compliance + Risk Mitigation:
  1. Ensure adherence to local building codes, accessibility standards and environmental/safety regulations
  2. Identify constructability challenges early and implement mitigation strategies during the design phase
• Franchisee Management:
  1. Collaborate closely with franchise partners to understand project goals and expectations
  2. Present design concepts and updates clearly to diverse audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
• Budget + Schedule Management:
  1. Manage design phases within established budget and timeline parameters
  2. Coordinate with construction and procurement teams to align design with project cost and scheduling goals
• Quality Assurance:
  1. Conduct drawing reviews and implement quality control processes to ensure design consistency and feasibility
  2. Perform design audit to maintain high standards and minimize rework
• Documentation + Reporting:
  1. Maintain organized project documentation, including meeting notes, approvals, change logs and progress reports
  2. Provide regular design updates to senior leadership and project teams
• Additional Duties:
  1. Participate in ad hoc projects and perform other duties as assigned

Background:

• Education:
  1. Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field
• Experience:
  1. Minimum of 5 years in architecture or design roles
  2. Experience in design management capacity within construction or retail development is preferred
  3. Familiarity with multi-site development in sectors such as fitness, retail, wellness or beauty is a plus
• Technical Skills
  1. Strong understanding of architectural and construction design principles
  2. Knowledge of building codes, ADA, health/safety regulations
  3. Proficiency AutoCAD is required; other design/drafting software a plus

Salary Range: $80k - $90k
