The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities and skills required of personnel so classified.

  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with the planning and daily execution of the project,
  • ensuring that the project is constructed in accordance with the contract requirements and specifications,
  • and the required quality.
  • Work with Project Manager and other Project Engineers to prepare scope of work instructions, technical requirements and bid packages for subcontractor and vendor items.
  • Actively participate in post-bid, buyout, coordination, subcontractor, staffing and scheduling meetings.
  • Assist in the development of cost estimates for assigned projects.
  • Issues subcontracts and purchase orders after approved by the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Assist with preparing the job start-up and close-out checklists.
  • Working knowledge of the project schedule and assist in maintaining the project schedule in MS Project.
  • Prepare the contract schedule of values for approval by the Project Manager.
  • Work with Contracts Administrator to ensure receipt of properly executed subcontract and purchase order agreements, insurance certificates, bonds and other documents as required to protect the interest of the company.
  • Utilizing project management system, prepare, expedite, and monitor logs for tracking shop drawings,
  • contract documents, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, material delivery logs and other as determined necessary for a successful project.
  • Distribute approved submittals to pertinent subcontractors.
  • With the Superintendent, monitor and expedite the delivery of materials.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the development of the monthly Snapshot Report and participate in the
  • monthly Snapshot Meetings.
  • Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, owner contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and all other project related documents, and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
  • Assist in expediting payment from the owner and expedite prompt processing of invoices and prompt
  • payment through to subcontractor for amounts due to them.
  • Under direction of the Project Manager, prepare, negotiate, execute, and issue change proposals to subcontractors and others. Prepare revisions to the master cost breakdown as a result of change
  • orders and management revisions.
  • Document potential schedule delays and promptly notify supervision to submit request for extension
  • of time and/or additional costs as per terms of the Contract.
  • Keep the Project Manager fully informed in a timely fashion regarding all problem areas
  • on the project.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate meeting minutes throughout project.
  • Maintain good relationships with the owner, architect, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, municipal authorities, and company personnel involved with the project.
  • Assist in maintaining the project files throughout project.
  • Gather and assemble close-out information including as-builts, warranties, O&M’s.
  • Organize and archive project files at completion.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Entry-level to three years of industry experience is preferred.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency in programs such as MS Office Suite,
  • Bluebeam, MS Project, OnScreen Take-Off, Auto-CAD, REVIT, Procore.
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written, verbal, and other interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic math/accounting skills.
  • Adaptable and able to work well under pressure.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $95,000, with a starting salary of $80,000 for candidates with limited experience as Project Engineers. Opportunities for salary growth are available based on performance and career progression.
