Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 Course Length: Year High School Credit: 0.5 per semester of academic elective credit College Credit: 3 credits through Arapahoe Community College. College courses are offered on a four-year rotation: 2025-26: JOU2021 Photojournalism 2026-27: JOU1006 Media News and Reporting 2027-28: JOU2041 Feature and Magazine Writing 2028-29: JOU2025 New Media Prerequisite: None Fee: None 2025-26 Schedule: TBD Description: This course explores the Audio and Video production industry and its post-secondary educational and career opportunities. Students will gain job-specific training for entry-level employment in audio, video, television, and motion picture careers. Professional-grade equipment and software will be used in the creation of student-led productions. Students will be involved in every aspect of several class and small group audio, video, and film style production projects with emphasis on TV studio broadcasting and news production projects. Students will also be encouraged to participate as studio crew for district productions outside of school hours.
