LOD Staffing has openings for Electrician Apprentice / Helper

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm / Must be flexible to stay late or come in on weekends to complete project deadlines

Rate of Pay: $18.00

The  Electrician’s Apprentice / Helper is responsible for assisting electricians with installation, maintenance, and repair work. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of electrical systems and be able to follow instructions with attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of a journeyman-level electrician, assisting in the installation, alteration, addition, and/or repair of electrical systems and fire alarms on commercial and/or residential work sites.
  • Gather tools and supplies to be used at the work site.
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit.
  • Trace out short circuits in wiring.
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects such as wiring, conduit, and motors.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and keep supplies and parts in order.
  • Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Help in securing, relocating, and organizing materials, small tools, and equipment from and back to appropriate storage areas.
  • Keep the work area clean by collecting and disposing of scrap, excess materials, and refuse.
  • Assists in pulling wire, lifting, hoisting, and positioning materials.
  • May operate hand tools and equipment.
  • Assists in mounting and strapping conduit.
  • Assists more senior personnel in electrical installations, connections, and terminations under close supervision.
  • Performs other project-related duties and assignments as instructed by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Resume Required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by a regional accrediting agency).
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience performing essential job functions listed, which could include expertise gained through a technical training program. 
  • An apprentice license is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Must be able to pass a Background Check and Drug Screening

Preferred Qualifications / Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding basic electrical theory, components, and how systems work. 
  • Understanding basic math concepts like algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Being able to read and understand technical diagrams and blueprints. 
  • Identifying and fixing electrical issues. Familiarity with both hand and power tools. 
  • Ability to clearly explain technical information and understand instructions.
  • Collaborating effectively with other electricians and professionals.
  • Applying logical thinking and critical analysis to resolve electrical challenges.
  • Organizing work and completing tasks efficiently.
  • Interacting professionally with clients. 

Working Environment

  • Indoor and outdoor work in varying conditions (heat, cold, humidity, rain, etc.)
  • Job sites may include residential buildings, commercial properties, industrial facilities, or construction zones.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations from construction zones.
  • High noise volumes.
  • Exposure to electrical currents, wiring, and potentially hazardous materials
  • Must follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times
  • Use of PPE is mandatory
  • May require shift work, weekends, nights, and holidays.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Visual acuity (corrected or uncorrected) sufficient to operate equipment safely and read documents.
  • Hearing ability (corrected or uncorrected) sufficient to hear and understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment.
