Responsibilities:

  1. Splicing and Termination:
    • Perform precision splicing and termination of fiber optic cables to ensure optimal signal transmission.
    • Utilize fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques for various fiber optic projects.
  2. Testing and Troubleshooting:
    • Conduct thorough testing of fiber optic systems using specialized equipment to identify and troubleshoot issues.
    • Diagnose and rectify signal loss, reflectance, and other performance-related problems.
  3. Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of splicing procedures, test results, and cable routing.
    • Create and update splicing schematics and diagrams for future reference.
  4. Installation and Maintenance:
    • Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic cables and related equipment in various environments.
    • Collaborate with other team members to ensure the timely completion of projects.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards and specifications in all splicing and termination activities.
    • Implement best practices to achieve high-quality fiber optic connections.
  6. Project Support:
    • Support project timelines by efficiently completing assigned tasks and meeting project milestones.
    • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to contribute to the success of fiber optic projects.
  7. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations during all activities.
    • Implement safety protocols and precautions to minimize risks associated with fiber optic installations.

Requirements:

  1. Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in fiber optics or a related field is a plus.
  2. Experience:
    • Proven experience in fiber optics splicing, termination, and testing.
    • Familiarity with various types of fiber optic cables and connectors.
  3. Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in using fusion splicing and mechanical splicing equipment.
    • Ability to operate and interpret results from optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR) and other testing tools.
  4. Communication:
    • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and project stakeholders.
  5. Problem-Solving:
    • Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic systems.
  6. Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work in various environments, climb ladders, work at heights, lift/move up to 50 lbs, and stand for extended periods.
