Senior Project Manager - Luxury Interior Design Firm

OHARA DAVIES-GAETANO INTERIORS, a world-class high-end design firm, seeks an efficient, detail-oriented, diligent Senior Interior Designer with 12+ years of design firm experience to lead our Project Managers and Junior Designers on luxury residential interior design projects at our New York City, Los Angeles, Flathead Lake / MT, and Palm Beach / FL offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full ownership and accountability for interior design projects, ensuring every detail is executed to the highest standard and all deadlines are consistently met.
  • Preparation and management of client presentations, excluding product selection, although you may have input depending upon your style
  • Residential space planning
  • New product and material sourcing -- furniture, accessories, lighting, window treatments, paint colors, etc.
  • Product pricing
  • Assist in preparing comprehensive project documentation, including full drawing set submissions, specification writing, schedules, and construction administration tasks
  • Complete accountability for all purchasing to include:
  • Review all orders to ensure merchandise is ordered correctly to client specifications
  • Ensure all elements of custom product are correct, including measurements, hardware, finish, type of wood, etc.
  • Follow up with the expediter to ensure orders from vendors are received correctly and on time
  • Process RMA's and confirm credit to account
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a flexible and proactive attitude to support the evolving needs of the design team
  • Manage and motivate design assistant and/or interns
  • Coordinate with and manage contractors
  • Coordinate and manage deliveries and installations
  • Coordinate client account balances and payments on account
  • Collect funds from clients and maintain budgets
  • Interface with warehouse and merchandising personnel to ensure timely delivery and installation
  • Willing to travel (domestic)

A Senior Project Manager must excel in client relations, providing exceptional follow-up by consistently updating clients on project progress and coordinating all deliveries and installations according to their schedules. Must remain highly responsive—available to clients, vendors, and contractors at all times. This includes accommodating time zone differences and being accessible.

What We’re Looking For:

Education:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • 12+ years' experience in interior design
  • Residential design and space planning expertise

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (preferred)
  • Familiar with Studio Designer (or similar) and Microsoft Office
  • Asana (a plus)

Design Skills:

  • Ability to sketch and space planning abilities

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and negotiation skills
  • Professional in addressing inquiries and concerns

Organization:

  • Manages multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail in orders and documentation

Problem-Solving:

  • Resourceful with strong troubleshooting skills

Work Style:

  • Independent yet team-oriented
  • Proactive and initiative-driven

Work Schedule:

This is a hybrid position in one of our offices. The role requires working on-site 4-days per week and allows for 1 remote workday each week. Candidates should be comfortable collaborating in person with team members while also managing independent tasks remotely.
