The role requires an excellent writer with interest in local and state news and events, clear voice and speaking style for possible future reporter or anchor opportunities. Responsibilities include writing news stories for multiple markets, maintaining deadlines, producing, editing and writing content for 24/7 Newswire, gathering audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations, monitoring sources for breaking news, finalizing content using digital audio editing software, repackaging content from producers and field reporters for newscasts, and possibly anchoring or reporting as needed. Requirements include excellent reading, comprehension, and writing skills, contemporary writing style, excellent spelling and grammar, clear voice and enunciation, understanding and interest in news and politics, public speaking or broadcast experience, audio and photo editing experience. The candidate should respect others, work within standardized procedures, solve straightforward problems, pay close attention to detail, communicate courteously, work both in team and individual environments, and accept coaching to improve writing style, news content, and delivery.
